CORA members learn about Energy Efficient Lighting in OTRs Gateway Quarter

March 1, 2011, Cincinnati, OH — Switch Lighting & Design, LLC (Switch) hosted many of the region’s leading architects for a “green” lighting seminar.  Facilitated by Jodi Doll-Bowling of the Cincinnati/Louisville chapter of Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), architects learned about the latest trends in LED technology.

The content filled 90-minute luncheon/seminar included in-depth discussions on the benefits and vast applications of LED lighting.  Participants learned ways to source LED systems for residential and commercial projects and strategies for recognizing key features needed to select quality LEDs.

Cynthia Williams, chair of the local Congress of Residential Architecture (CORA) chapter said, “as architects we serve our clients by specifying design solutions that marry function and form.  This seminar provided us an opportunity to learn more about LED technology and to see products that are both energy efficient and beautiful.”

Drew Dearwester of Switch demonstrated the differences in LED light levels, color variances and product compositions using samples from several manufacturers.  Dearwester said, “because the marketplace is inundated with LEDs, it’s critically important to purchase product from reputable manufacturers who will troubleshoot and color match LED bins should the need arise.”

Qualified attendees received continuing education credits.  CORA is a committee of the Cincinnati chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Lunch was catered by Troy’s Café of West Chester,
