Walk past our 6th Street window after dark this month and you’ll notice something new glowing back at you. Uplight Group, the Miami-based studio that brings handmade European lighting to American homes, has joined the collection at Switch Lighting & Design in downtown Cincinnati.

To mark the arrival, every Uplight piece is 20% off through Saturday, November 7. That covers the lamps in our window and anything in the Uplight catalog we order for you.

Blossom: handmade in Spain, sculptural even when it’s off

Blossom begins as strips of French velvet, shaped by hand around a central diffuser in Spain. Turned on, light slips out between the ribs in soft, warm lines. Turned off, the curves stand on their own as an object worth looking at.

The collection comes in light gray, dark gray, ash and terra, in table lamp and pendant sizes. In our window, the Blossom XL Pendant hangs above the white Blossom Small Table Lamp and the terra Blossom Table Lamp, so you can see how the shapes and colors play together.

Moon: Nebulite, lit from within

The Moon lamp is made by hand in Italy by the designer Oçilunam, using Nebulite®, a fabric of resin and fiberglass. Lit, its surface shows the faint shadows and markings of a full moon, and the glow is soft enough for a bedside table. Larger versions hold their own on the floor of a living room. Sizes run from 7 to 47 inches across, and ours sits on the orange pedestal by the window.

Tell us the size and finish you have in mind and we’ll place the order. If you want a piece in place before the holidays, ask about lead times when you order, since each one is made by hand.

Interior designers and architects working on residential or hospitality projects can come to us for spec sheets and finish samples. We’ll also walk you through the pieces in person.
