Artemide

Milanese design since 1960, from the Tolomeo to Logico. Seen and specified at Switch in downtown Cincinnati.

The brand

Light designed around the people who live with it.

Artemide was founded in Milan in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza. Its 1996 manifesto, The Human Light, set out the idea that still guides the company: light should serve people and how they live.

Its catalog reads like a history of Italian design, with pieces by Vico Magistretti, Richard Sapper, Michele De Lucchi and Herzog & de Meuron. We carry the classics and help clients choose the right version for each room.

01

Tolomeo

Designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina and introduced in 1987, Tolomeo balances on a system of springs and cables, so the arm stays exactly where you set it.

It comes as a desk lamp, wall light and floor lamp, including the oversized Tolomeo Mega, in aluminum and colored bicolor versions.

Logico

Logico's blown-glass diffusers fold like soft sheets of silk, giving a warm, even glow.

It comes as single and triple pendants, ceiling and wall fixtures, so one family can carry through a kitchen, dining room and hall, as in the kitchen shown here.
