Wall Lights & Sconces
Sconces, wall washers and vanity lights from Artemide, Flos, Lodes, Slamp, FontanaArte, Marset and more. Chosen, specified and seen lit on our floor on 6th Street.
Why a wall light
Light the wall, and the room follows.
A wall light does work no ceiling fixture can. It puts soft light at eye level, makes a hallway feel wider, flatters a face at the mirror, and turns a blank wall into the first thing you notice. It is also one of the easiest fixtures to add in a remodel.
Below are 25 walls: homes we’ve lit across Cincinnati, pieces on our showroom floor, and favorites from the brands we carry. Ask us about any of them; most can be ordered through Switch at the manufacturer’s U.S. list price.

Choosing a wall light
Four questions we ask first.
Rules of thumb, not rules. Bring a photo and a tape measure and we’ll work it out with you.
How high?
In halls and living rooms, most sconces sit with their center around 60 to 66 inches off the floor, a little above eye level.
At the mirror?
Sconces on both sides of the mirror, near face height, light a face evenly. A single bar above the mirror works where the wall is narrow.
How many?
Down a corridor or stair, one every 8 to 10 feet keeps the light even. On a feature wall, an odd-numbered group often looks best.
Up, down or both?
Uplight makes a ceiling feel taller; downlight grazes texture like wood or stone. Ask about dimming and warm-dim LED.
